Things I want displayed on my lime green retinas as I traverse life:

  • average height of the 49 square miles around my current location vs. that of the City of Boston (lower left corner, indigo)
  • public alley murderers, downvoters, and others with blood on their hands (outlined in nuclear orange)
  • net worth of men in suits (mustard yellow, floating above their heads)
  • current temperature of McMurdo Station (gray, lower right)
  • pain index (3 day moving averages of physical pain, embarrassment, hunger, desperation, decay, and loneliness; blood red, left shoulder)
  • pleasure index (3 day moving averages of luck, optimism, blood sugar, political support, love life, and satisfaction; navy blue, right shoulder)
  • lie tellers and sodding bastards (tinted purple)
  • people I should pay attention to and recognize again at all costs (electric white halos)
  • time travelers (in bold)
  • thought readers (blinking)
  • doppelgängers (solarized)

  • A heads-up display generally refers to a device for displaying information designed such that it doesn't require looking away from the task at hand or obstructing your useful field of vision.
A good example would be the monocular eyepieces that are popular with users of wearable computers. Another example would be the night vision that the top of the line Cadillacs will project faintly onto the inside of the windshield so that from the driver's point of view it's overlayed with what can be directly seen out of the windshield.
