A technique in modern rock guitar made popular by guitarist for the band Van Halen, Eddie Van Halen. It allows the guitarist to play incredibly large fret intervals very quickly. While holding one note, you use your right hand ( or left hand if you are left handed ), to tap a fret in order to play the note. This technique can be heard on Eddie Van Halen's song Eruption.
