A Hollywood movie cliche in which a recently-crashed automobile explodes in a Chernobyl-like fireball. The Ford Pinto may have been the inspiration for this cinematic staple.

In reality, such apocalyptic explosions never occur, but reality makes ghastly tv, as "survivor" so dramatically demonstrates.
