Egoboo is short for ego boost. It was used by Science Fiction fanzines for the rush you get when you see your name in print.

Now, the Internet could be said to be an infinitely complex system for commercial exploitation of egoboo, on sites such as the following:

Are E2 and Slashdot egoboo sites? Mark Frauenfelder in Wired Egoboo Article seems to think otherwise, or worse he might not have heard of E2 and Slashdot.
