Of course, the overuse of "profanity" relates. A word like fuck has nowhere near the impact it might have once had. On the other hand, it it quite true that some meaning can be preserved, not by surrounding the 'dirty words' with mystery, but simply defining them as strong language. If one is not offended by these words yet does not make a habit of using them, they become all the more effective.

how about the important words, like fuck? I remember this as being a great source of consternation and outrage when I was kid. It's been devalued as an abusive term to the point where people use it in ways such as "let's fuck", and the end result is not offense taken, but rather some down by the fire action.

Now I have to go to all the trouble of remembering phrases such as "go jam broken bottles in your assmilk tube while catholic nuns bite your cock with broken dentures, you cum-teabag" to get any sort of response.
