Ankle socks worn by teenage and pre-teen girls in the late 1940s and 1950s. The socks were usually white and folded at the ankle. Sometime spelled as: bobbysocks, bobby sox, bobby-sox, bobbysox.

The girls wearing the socks were known as bobbysoxers, a slang nickname which came to encompass practically all teenage girls at the time. Also see: sock hop.
