To obtain something for free, "to borrow" or otherwise obtain by persuasion or cunning.
e.g Can I blag a fag (thats a cigarette for all you confused americans).
To blag into a gig - to get in for free by talking round the door staff.
Originated /in common usage in the UK 'New Age Traveller' /Alternative scene

Before the word acquired the mild scamming meaning it has today, 'blag' was London slang for a robbery, especially one with violence; this is still the only meaning listed in most dictionaries of slang. One can only speculate on what connection, if any, there may between these two meanings and also the French blague.
