Wal is the name of a line of
high-end electric basses made by the
British company
Electric Wood.

They're into that whole
exotic woods and
active electronics thing.
Unfortunately, I've never played one (and I'm not much of a
bassist anyway, and I have an unreasonable bias in favor of older, low-tech
American instruments made of
prosaic woods like
ash and
alder), so I really can't say anything meaningful about them.
