The University of Chicago can best be defined by the series of unofficial slogans its students have created over the years. My favourites:

• Where fun comes to die
• Where the end of the world began
• Where the men all look like Woody Allen, and the women do too
• Whenever I get the urge to exercise, I lie down until it goes away (spoken by a former university president)

And, of course, there's our two school chants:

The crew team added two new slogans to the mix this year (2000-1), "the level of Hell Dante forgot" and "the limit as U-->U(c) of the integral of e^x = 0" (sketch out the latter in math notation if its meaning, you get no sex at u of c, isn't clear).
