In 1976, my parents took us kids on a Circle Line cruise for the Bicentennial festivities around Manhattan. One of the other passengers had a condition that made him hang his head to one side, as if his neck was broken and no-one had bothered to fix it. I was 7, and I avoided him in fear. Every 1/2 hour or so, he came listing around some corner, and I had to run away again.
