A New Jersey optometrist, who set up a recording studio in his parents' high-ceilinged living room, back in the early 1950s - he became the main recording engineer for Blue Note Records (and in-demand with other labels), and established a standard for sonic excellence on a par with that of the many great and legendary musicians he recorded over the decades.
