"Editions of Contemporary Music", a record label, founded by Manfred Eicher in the late 60's. Eicher brought post-Van Gelder audiophile rigor and an auteur's vision to the jazz sphere, and helped provide exposure to European musicians who would likely have been politely ignored by the US epicenter of jazz. In recent decades has branched out to include classical music and musicians (like the late George Adams) who wouldn't have fit in so well with the early ECM ethos.
