A nickname of Christ Church, an Episcopal church in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts. According to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem, Paul Revere signalled the British invasion from the steeple during the Revolutionary War. Longfellow took many liberties with the known facts, but that's poetic license for you.
