The myrtle family. This group of evergreen dicots has members which can have a shrub or tree growth habit. Some myrtaceous genera are Eucalyptus, Syzygium (includes cloves), Pimenta (includes allspice), Psidium (includes guava) and various ornamentals.

Note: The common landscaping and street tree crape myrtle is not a true myrtle, but a member of the Lythraceae, the loosestrife family.
