比叡山

A mountain in Japan near Kyoto and the site of the famous Enryakuji Buddhist monastery founded by Saicho in AD 788. During the medieval period, the warrior monks of Mount Hiei exercised great influence over Japanese politics, storming down from the mountain in force and disrupting commerce in the capital until their grievances were resolved.
