Seminal rock-and-roll figure in the early alternative rock scene. Co-produced, with Don Dixon, early REM albums such as Murmur and Reckoning. Later appeared in his own band, Let's Active.

Mitch Easter has more recently been involved with Rhode Island's own Velvet Crush. Easter co-produced their immortal album Teenage Symphonies to God, which any Mitch Easter fan would probably be proud to own. Or maybe not. Easter also co-produced REM's pre-Murmur Ep Chronic Town.
