Intel's codename for IA-64, a 64-bit processor architecture which Intel is idiotically going to try and restrict to high-end servers to keep up their profit margins.

Now named Itanium, which is a lot harder to remember and sounds a lot worse. Bad marketing, I'm no advertising agent, but I'd think a name like "Merced" would be much more chic and very marketable.
