'Mecha' is the Japanese word both for mechs and giant robots and for stories which focus on them. Japanese mecha include Bubblegum Crisis, Macron 1, Tetsujin 28-go (Gigantor), and Hyaku Ju-Oh Go Lion (Lion Force Voltron). United States mecha include The Transformers. Japanime mecha include Robotech. British mecha include the tripods of H. G. Wells' War of the Worlds. In kaiju, Mechagodzilla is a mecha.

A term used to describe the japanese artistic stylization of mechanical offensive weaponry. Quite often mecha are visualized as hybrid suits of armor to be worn by its human "mech-pilot".

Often, mecha can take the form of more recognized vehicles (such as heavily armored assault tanks or fighter planes) and given the ability to transform itself into a more humanoid resembling attack form.

Japanese mecha, as depicted in manga and animae, are often heavily armed with numerous types of futuristic weaponry. Mecha have an enormous capacity for mass destruction.
