A force that acts on a charged particle moving through a magnetic field. Proportional to the velocity of the particle, the strength of the magnetic field, and the charge on the particle. Interestingly, the force is perpendicular to both the magnetic field and the particle's velocity.

The Lorentz force is the force, F, acting on a particle with charge q Coulombs, (possibly) moving with a velocity of U meters/second through a region having a magnetic flux density of B Tesla, and having an electric field intensity of E volts/meter.

F = q[U × B + E]

When taken together with Maxwell's Equations, we can describe all electromagnetic phenomenon.
