The trouble with Hum is that they never release official copies of their lyrics. This results in different versions of said lyrics by different people. Little Dipper's first line is a good example of this. While Stride here has heard and believed that the line ends with 'absent eyes', myself and most others I know believe the line should be, "If we both stand with paths on high." Just an interesting thought. If you have those words in mind while listening to the song, I believe they fit better than 'absent eyes.'

They do not, however, make much more sense.
But this is Hum, people. Easy to understand lyrics was never their forte.

Also, http://hum.n3.net/, the best and most accurate site I've found yet for Hum information, displays the same line.
