affluent,
trendy arts/restaurant area situated on the
Pacific coast just north of
San Diego,
California. The name 'La Jolla', (pronounced 'La Hoy-ah'), means either 'The
Jewel', (
Spanish), or 'The
Cave'.
La Jolla is home to UCSD, (University of California, San Diego), and the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. It is also very close to Torrey Pines golf course.
