The author of the
Tcl (pronounced "tickle") language. Ousterhout (pronounced Oh'-stir-howt) got tired of rewriting scripting languages for every new hardware design project he started at
Berkeley. He came up with an extensible, and very simple, language he called Tool Command Language (Tcl). With the addition of the
Tk toolkit, extensible cross platform graphics suddenly became very easy.
He now works for
Ajuba corporation (formerly
Scriptics), which is dedicated to commercializing
Tcl/Tk.
