Chinese actor, born in 1952 in Hong Kong. His parents separated even before he was born, and he was sent at a very young age to live at Hong Kong's Peking Opera, an enclosed society that strictly teaches classical Chinese theater. He gained the sponsorship of an American family and traveled to the United States, where he performed for a while on Broadway.

Lone made his film debut in 1984, playing a revived caveman in "Iceman". He was nominated for Golden Globe awards a few years later when he appeared in "Year of the Dragon" and when he played the title role in "The Last Emperor". He has also appeared in "Echoes of Paradise", "The Moderns", "Shadow of China", "Once Upon a Time in Shanghai", "M. Butterfly", "The Shadow", and "Rush Hour 2".

Unfortunately, he tends to appear in very few films. Part of that may be because he's picky about the roles he plays. Part of that may be because Hollywood doesn't have many movies requiring high-class Asian actors...
