Image processing is the study of techniques and operations used on images to improve them, for perception or for further applications, like computer vision.

Usually, image processing uses image models to perform the operations. An image model is the representation we choose to work with the image; usual ones are:

Taking each of these, we'd have a set of different operations based on that model, applying appropiate theories from that area (for example, Fourier analysis and filtering for bidimensional signals).
