A stove designed to burn natural gas or propane. Prized by cooks for their easy adjustability (after all, you can see how much fire is being generated!), the burners on the top of a gas range also have other uses, such as removing the skin from chile peppers, lighting cigarettes, and creative glass forming. The oven part of gas stoves, on the other hand, is often reviled for its uneven heating and unreliable temperature adjustment; better to bake an angel food cake in an electric oven. The broiler part of the gas oven, though, gives really good results when cooking meat; almost as good as a charcoal fire.
