Gary Lee Bauer is a conservative Christian fundamentalist and hardcore moralist, president of the Family Research Council (FRC), closely allied to Focus on the Family. He was a nominee for Republic president in 2000, but dropped out of the primaries after failing miserably in several states and endorsing Senator McCain. As of Feb. 26, 2000, his official website (http://www.bauer2k.com) still has the triumphant news of his third place "successes" in the polls. Author of The Age of Consent: The Rise of Relativism and the Corruption of Popular Culture, Children at Risk (with James Dobson, aka Dr. Dobson of Focus on the Family), Our Hopes, Our Dreams: A Vision for America, and Our Journey Home: What Parents Are Doing to Preserve Family Values.

There were obscure rumors that he was having an affair with his 26-year-old deputy campaign manager, Melissa McClard, with whom he spent with large amounts of private time, and he called a press conference in which he, with his wife's support, denied it vigorously.

Gary Bauer was just on The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News responding to viewers calling in. One caller said that people protesting against imminent U.S retaliatory strikes should be arrested for anti-American activities. When asked for his opinion on this he replied;

"Well, we are a democracy and that's what makes us the last great hope for mankind."

And Americans wonder why they are disliked so much.
