Florida Atlantic University. A state college located in Boca Raton, Florida, that was founded in 1961.

Their central campus is 850 acres, located on a former U.S. Army airfield. The school mascot is the burrowing owl, many which live on the campus. The campus is designated a burrowing owl sanctuary by the Audubon Society.

As of 2000, the top 5 majors are: Elementary Education, Arts & Humanities, Biological Sciences, Business, and Management. There are additional satellite campuses located all along the east coast of South Florida.
