How about instead of staying with the pretenses that cherry Kool-aid actually tastes like cherries, we adopt a new color-oriented naming convention?

Cherry would be "red", grape would be "purple", lime would be "green" and we wouldn't have to muck up our lives trying to fool ourselves that Laffy Taffy has anything to do with real fruit.

Actually, Nate's naming convention is actually widely practiced in the IDF, where standard issue bug juice is routinely (though not officially) identified as "yellow flavour" ("lemon"), "brown flavour" ("apple"), "red flavour" (erm, actually, I guess it was meant to be "grape", but maybe "cherry" -- I'll check on the cans), and "orange flavour" (fortunately, in Hebrew, the fruit "orange" is distinct from the colour).

However, this is the soft option naming convention]. The (toxic, carcinogenic) chemicals used for each such synthflavour are now pretty much standardised; the correct names are therefore "cherry-flavour flavour", "apple-flavour flavour", etc.
