Nowadays, the sport of bows and arrows.

In medieval times, this skill was mandatory for youths across Europe, to defend their villages against armies.

The sport of archery you see practiced in the Olympic games is now known as target archery. Other competitive disciplines exist including field archery, flight archery and popinjay archery.
