Son of Mary Rodgers and grandson of Richard Rodgers, Guettel himself is a young songwriter and musical theatre composer of some note. His most recent works include Floyd Collins (1996) and the song cycle Saturn Returns (1998), recorded as Myths and Hymns. He lives in Soho, plays bass in various rock groups, graduated from Yale and used to be a junkie but now is mentioned as one of the bright lights that might save musical theatre, along with folks like Michael John LaChiusa and Andrew Lippa.
