Abbreviation for Additional Decryption Key, a concept recently brought to popular attention by the dastardly betrayal by Phil Zimmerman. In effect, it is a system for attaching additional keys to an encryption, allowing decryption by a third party (i.e. your company, your government, law enforcement, etc.). It masqueraded itself as a key recovery feature, to allow access to data should the original, primary key be lost.
