These rules apply to the most current version of Canadian bills; at the moment the only non-standard bill is the new $10. It is purple and has the National War Memorial on the back, and part of the poem "In Flanders' Fields".

And specific to the new $10 bill (and presumably to the newer bills to come)

Tip #2: There are no smiling Scotsmen on Canadian currency. You've been screwed man, it's Canadian Tire Money.
