These rules apply to the most current version of Canadian bills; at the moment the only non-standard bill is the new $10. It is purple and has the National War Memorial on the back, and part of the poem "In Flanders' Fields".

• $20 through $1 000 bills have metallic squares that change colour from gold to green when tilted
• "Planchettes" (greeny-blue dots) exist on both sides of the bill. These can be scratched off with a fingernail and glow underneath black light
• Images and individual lines should be sharp and well-defined
• Many of the lines are actually made up of tiny letters, spelling the value of the bill in English and French
• Ink in some locations is raised and will feel thicker.
• The colour of counterfeit bills may look slightly off when compared to other bills of the same denomiation

And specific to the new $10 bill (and presumably to the newer bills to come)

• Only the Coat of Arms, the words Dix-Ten and Banque of Canada Banque du Canada should glow - and white security fibres which will glow red
• Matte gold maple leaves turn iridescent when tilted. Their edges should be smooth, and well-defined
• A bill tilted at 45 degrees reveals the hidden number '10'

Tip #2: There are no smiling Scotsmen on Canadian currency. You've been screwed man, it's Canadian Tire Money.
