Opinicus
The opinicus, sometimes known as an epimacus is an
heraldic creature resembling a griffin. It has a lion's body and legs with
claws, the head and wings of an eagle, and the tail of a camel. It has
somewhat different ears than a "normal" griffin and is sometimes seen
without wings. The opinicus was granted as heraldic supporters to the arms
of the Worshipful Company of Barber Surgeons of London, and also to the
armorial bearings of the Plasterer's Company.
One other known grant has the
opinicus as a crest. But i can't find it right now!
