Noxzema

Noxzema was developed by a Baltimore pharmacist named George Bunting in 1914 as a facial cleanser in a blue jar. Customers used Noxzema as a sunburn remedy, a skin refresher, cleanser, and makeup-remover. Noxzema's ingredients such as menthol, camphor, and eucalyptus lend to its tingly feeling. A customer's complimentary remark to Bunting led to the name Noxzema. The customer told Bunting that his cream "knocks eczema", which was only serendipitous. Today, Noxzema is the leading facial cleanser on the market and has expanded its line to astringent, acne pads, and shaving cream.
