We sat underneath the trees and
I cried for you.
You held my hand and gave me a flower.
The slow flow of the breeze across
our facesMade it seem as though we were
sitting in a picture.
You told me how you tried to
escapeAnd my heart broke and soaked in your
uncried tears.
All I could do was
look into your eyes because I
couldn’t find words.
I could see it all right there behind the blue-gray glass.
I saw how you loved her and how you crumbled,
I saw how you sank underneath the dark, mellifluous waves,
I saw the bastion at the bottom where you hid it all, and
I saw that there was nothing I could do except to sit with you.
So I sat with you and I didn’t want to leave.
You can’t escape yet because I need you here with me.
