Cutha was brother of Ceawlin king of the West Saxons and Bretwalda.

From the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle we know that in the year 568 Cutha fought at the side of Ceawlin in battle against Æthelbert and "pursued him into Kent", where they later killed two eaoldermen named Oslake and Cnebba at Wimbledon.

The final mention of Cutha is in the year of our lord 584 when it is recorded that he died in battle against the Britons at Fretherne.
