Carl Gustav Jung was born on July 26, 1875 in Switzerland.
He studied medicine at the University of Besel including neurology
under the famous Baron Richard von Krafft-Ebing. After
graduation Jung taught at the University of Zurich.
Jung met Freud in 1907; the (perhaps
apocryphal) story is that when the two met, Freud
was so impressed that he cancelled the rest of his appointments
for that day so they could continue to talk. Their friendship started
to cool in
1909 on a trip to America, apparently
while the two were analyzing each others dreams
with the final break happening in 1913 when Jung
published Wandlungen und Symbole der Libido (translated
as Psychology of the Unconscious.)
Jung passed away in 1961 in Zurich.
