On October 28, 1906, a three-car
train of the
Pennsylvania Railroad's newly inaugurated electric service from
Camden plunged from a
drawbridge as it neared
Atlantic City. Apparently, the rails on the drawbridge were not in proper alignment. Among the 40 dead were seven members of the
Italian Royal Artillery Band.
