Car doors hinged from the back instead of the front. Found in many pre 1950s cars and Lincolns made in the early 1960s. If you've seen The Matrix, you've seen these, the 1963 Lincoln Continental that they use has suicide doors. The term was coined due to the fact that if the door was loosely hinged, instead of the wind pushing the door closed, it would help to pull it open. Since cars in these days had no seatbelts, the passenger was likely to fall out, usually to his/her peril.
