An anarchist symbol

Back in the 16th century, if the church found you guilty of adultery or witchcraft, you were forced to wear the "Scarlet letter" which stood for "Anti-Christ". It was an arm band you wore to let the villagers know you were a follower of Satan. It was designed with circle and the letter A. The circle represented "God" dominance over the Anti-Christ. The Antinomians (A Christian sect in Massachusetts) rebelled against the Puritans by wearing the Scarlet letter in solidarity with women accused of withcraft. As the years went on, the encircled A meaned resistence to authoritarianism.
