In
heraldry, a beast with the body of a
cat, but
tufted, with an
eagle's
claws in place of the
forepaws. It has sprouting
antler-like horns and a long tufted tail. It does not, according to this description, noticeably resemble a
greyhound, so I don't know why it's called what it is.
The calygreyhound is peculiar to the family of de Vere, the Earls of Oxford. (That includes the one some loonies claim wrote Shakespeare.)
