Ersatz Glow was a Jacksonville, Florida - based indie rock band composed of Sam Heath (bass guitar and vocals), B.J. Brinck (guitar and backing vocals), and Jason Irvin (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Any additional sounds (such as synthesizer or mandolin) are added by whoever can play them.

Ersatz Glow began in 1996 as a bunch of high school guys jamming on guitars in the garage. After a brief period of being called a series of ridiculous names like Blowhog & the Spindiculous Buttnoids, the members of the band agreed on "Ersatz Glow", after Sam had a dream in which a man on a frozen falafel came down and said, “From now on you will be Ersatz Glow, with an ‘e’”. In early 2000, Ersatz Glow began playing at some of the smaller Jacksonville venues, such as Jackrabbits, the Fat Kat, and in a few of Gainesville’s as well. They disbanded in 2004.

Ersatz Glow's music is best described as eclectic. From their instrumental piece "December" to their single "Emo Girl", a wide range of style is explored by the trio. Their website, www.ersatzglow.com , tells their performance dates and has links to purchase some of their CDs.
