Lacrimosa dies illa
Qua resurget ex favilla
Judicandus homo reus
Pie Jesu, Domine
Dona eis requiem aeternam
Mournful that day
When from the dust shall rise
Guilty man to be judged
Merciful Jesu, Lord
Grant them eternal rest
In
Mozart's requiem, only the first eight bars of this were actually
composed by Mozart himself. He died before he could
finish it. The first year I tried out for the All-State choir this was one of the
audition pieces. Almost five years later I still know it. I find it to be absorbing and powerful.
One day I want to
walk through a castle singing it.
