Vigilantes of Love is a rock band whose roots are buried deep in the Georgia red clay. The Athens-based band is lead by singer-songwriter Bill Mallonee whose lyrics draw from diverse musical and literary influences. Mallonee writes songs with historical references, complex characters, and themes of faith and desperation that span all of VOL's music. And live, the band and its songs will heat the place up with tight, energetic rock and roll, though they frequently play acoustic sets with the same dexterity. The band's americana sound can be compared to Wilco or Sun Volt. The band has worked with R.E.M. and Mark Heard.
