I stole the "Lazlo Toth" pseudonym from Don Novello (best known for his "Father Guido Sarducci" character on Saturday Night Live), who wrote two books full of correspondence between the fictional Lazlo and dozens of celebritie.s, corporations and politicians. Unless you were "in" on the joke, Lazlo's letters appeared to be from a naive, easily upset super-patriot. His letters of "support" to Richard Nixon during the Watergate crisis were especially hilarious. Most o.f his correspondants took him quite seriously and their earnest replies to his various letters of complaint, support or suggestion are priceless..
