Italian ballerina. Born 1817, died 1909.

As one of the foremost ballerinas of the Romantic age, Fanny Cerrito brought to the stage a temperamental, powerful style and an undeniably erotic aura. Following her début in Naples/Napoli in 1832, she danced on all the great stages of the world.

Fanny Cerrito was part of the famous Pas de Quatre of ballerinas in London in 1845, and made her mark on many of the most famous ballets of the Romantic period, notably Jules Perrot's Ondine (1843).

She retired in the late 1850s.
