You get 50 points for busting bricks in Super Mario Bros.
Glowing Fish says And busting a brick takes one second. Each second on the timer gets you 50 points. It therefore doesn't make sense to break bricks.

I've been pushing the merits of brick busting since I was eight, and now some snotty noder debunks me in an offhand /msg just days after I change my homenode.
