Could someone tell me why people are downvoting nodes that aren't bad but aren't perfect either?

Shouldn't those downvotes be better used to weed out the real crap that spews out of the gutters of e2 instead of throwing them at people genuinely trying to write informative, matter-of-fact, albeit short writeups?
