Well, it's a Dartmouth thing. It's one of our favorite phrases, whenever someone screws up directions (esp. while driving). I'm not sure where it got its roots, but the first time I heard it was from a bunch of rowdy Chubbers during the showing of "Schlitz on Mt. Washington".

Usage:
"We went this way, that way, the other way, and back."
