A thick book generally printed on newsprint containing telephone numbers. Issued to all phone subscribers on an annual basis by the phone company. White pages will have residences, listed by name, often with an address. Yellow pages will have business numbers, sorted by type of business and alphabetically within each type, often mixed with advertising. In Canada, at the back of the white pages will be blue pages, containing government phone numbers. Both types of phone book will have emergency contact numbers and miscellaneous trivia printed in the front of the book. Some phone companies include a postal code/zip code guide in the white pages.
